My wish lists for this year – 1
Where do I even begin?! There are just TOO many incredible things out there, so I thought it would be best if I did a multi-part series on everything that I wish I had! As skincare is one of my favourite luxury items, I thought it was a good place to start this little BLOGMAS mini series 🙂
Hopefully this might inspire you with gift ideas for someone who is difficult to buy for but loves skincare, or even for yourself! Let me know on in the comments and on twitter/instagram whats on your skincare wish list this year! I’d love to know 🙂
So here are all the skincare products I wish I had 🙂
1 – TATCHA The Essence Plumping Skin Softener – $95 (USD)
If you’ve been following me a while, I’ve talked about Tatcha since my favourites post in my September favourites earlier this year. This is an item that’s been on my wish list for what seems like forever, but I can’t justify the price with my measly little PhD student salary. I would love to try out this, with anti-ageing properties and ingredients such as nourishing Green Tea, Rice and Algae, its definitely something I need as I’m in my mid twenties now! I particularly love Tatcha because their products are oil-free, non-comedogenic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing. Its also cruelty-free and formulated without mineral oils, synthetic fragrances, sulfate detergents, parabens, urea, DEA, TEA or phthalates. Its approved by Sephora as clean and vegan! (I’m not even vegan but I thought I’d add that in haha).
2 – TATCHA The Silk Canvas Filter Finish Protective Primer – $52 (USD)
Another product from Tatcha, I’ve wanted the silk canvas primer since Jenn Im recommended it in her wedding makeup video. Like I said for the essence, Tatcha and their purity promise is one of the main reasons why I love this brand, and also because their cleanser and water cream has become firm favourites of mine, as I raved about in my HUGE Skincare and Makeup Haul and September favourites. I really want to try this primer as I’ve heard amazing things, and I also am looking for a good protective layer in between my SPF and foundation.
Okay so I don’t own or neither have I tried anything from Drunk Elephant, but I know its now available in the UK through Space N.K or Cult Beauty and I NEED IT! This product is made with 15% pure L-ascorbic acid, which is a potent form of vitamin C, as well as with 0.5% ferulic acid and 1% vitamin E. All of these ingredients should help to neutralise damaging pollutants, environmental stressors and free radicals, as well as visibly reduce the appearance of dark spots and wrinkles, which is exactly what I need! The pumpkin ferment and pomegranate extracts means that this serum enzymatically dissolves dead surface skin cells for smoother textured skin, and a sodium hyaluronate cross-polymer which provides intense hydration. We’re told to expect noticeably brighter and more radiant complexion, which sounds perfect to me!
4 – DRUNK ELEPHANT Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil – £34 (15ml) £64 (30 ml)
The second item on my list from Drunk Elephant is their Virgin Marula oil, which we’re told has been clinically proven to reverse signs of ageing, offering incredible antioxidant benefits to protect against environmental stressors and free radicals. Sounds good so far! The oil is also super absorbable and high in critical antioxidants, such as vitamin E and flavinoids, as well as omegas 6 and 9, which help moisturise, rejuvenate and nourish the skin while restoring a youthful glow. The oil is naturally antimicrobial, and also soothes skin, relieving redness and blotchiness, while granting a noticeable reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Again, this is what I need, now that I’m in my mid twenties, and taking anti-ageing seriously.
5 – SK-II GenOptics Aura Essence Serum – $240 (USD)
This has been on my wish list for the longest time, probably since early 2013, and to this day I can’t justify the price to myself. This cult product is one of the most famous products from SK-II (I love their essence and use it all the time!). The serum is made to improve the radiance of your skin by diminishing cloudiness underneath the surface, caused by UV exposure. It also prevents spots, and gives skin a smoother texture. Its recommended for all skin types, so whats not to like!
6 – LA MER Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream – £120 (30 ml)
So this one is one of those that is ALL over instagram (at least all over mine!) and its one I really want to try out of curiosity and a little bit probably from all the media hype. It promises to reduce the appearance of fine lines, hydrate dry complexions and nourish damaged skin. I’m most interested about the fact that it also promises to reduce pores, and improve the radiance of skin! I think it might be more worthwhile and an investment for me a few years down the line in my late twenties/early thirties, but its definitely one I’ve got my eyes on! And will probably stay on my wish list for a while, as its £120 for only 30 ml.
7 – OSKIA CityLife Concentrate – £110
I know I just said in the previous post £120 for 30 ml is very pricey, but this one is £110 for 15 ml, which is exactly the reason why its on my wish list and not in my shopping basket! Living in London, I’ve become increasingly concerned about the effect of the city pollutants on my skin, and this product has amazing clinical trial results to back it up. Their work suggests it reduces free radicals by up to 97.7% and protect skin against 98% of airborne particulate pollution. Their amazing trial results puts this in my wish list and keen to try this new type of pollutant protectant for skin.
I have a few areas which are slightly pigmented, and this product seems to tick everything that I’m looking for. This serum promotes youthful clarity while helping to reduce the appearance of dark spots, discolourations and hyperpigmentation. I think it sounds like a great post summer treatment, although it is promoted as being an effective year round solution. I’ve recently become a big fan of Kiehl’s so I would love to try one of their serums out!
9 – KIEHL’S Midnight Recovery Concentrate – £37
Another product from Kiehl’s! I like that it is specifically made for night time use, as your sleep is so vital for replenishing and revitalising your skin, and this serum works together with your body’s natural night time process to leave you with younger looking skin when you wake up in the morning. It hydrates the skin with just a few drops, and most importantly for me, is derived from natural ingredients (99.8%) and is paraben -free.
10 – SUNDAY RILEY Good Genes Glycolic Acid Treatment – £85 (30 ml)
My sister-in-law and I talk about how much we want this treatment, made to revitalize the appearance of dull, congested, and sun damaged skin. The theme of my wish list seems to be improving skin post sun and pollution damage, and it reflects my biggest skincare concerns.
See you tomorrow!
