I have wanted to make a skincare post for SO long, and its finally here! After what feels like forever since my last post, my first skincare and products post is ready and I’m so happy to share it with you all.
Summer is finally here in the UK, and although this means more BBQs, longer days and generally a happier time, it also means you have to care for your skin especially well, and prepare for the sun.
Usually the sunshine brings with it sweat and sunburn so here are my favorite ways to protect your skin by preparing well in the morning, and is also a great way to feel refreshed and awake!
So without further ado – here is my current morning skincare routine, with the products that I have tried and tested and confident to recommend 🙂
Gentle Cleanse – Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water
I start off every morning with a cleanse of my entire face. I have used the Garnier micellar water for a couple of years now and found that it is my favorite, having tried a range of drugstore and higher end micellar waters. I use a cotton pad and drench it fully, wiping away any build up on my face from overnight.
Cleanse (wash) – SK-II Facial Treatment Gentle Cleanser
This has been my absolute must-have items since I started using it in December. As a cleanser, you only need a tiny amount for a full wash, and I use this to wake up my face in the morning and wash off anything that the micellar water may have missed. SK-II is one of my favorite skincare brands from my home country (Japan!) and this product is something that I find myself reaching for every single day. It foams up really well, and skin feels so clean but not tight or dry, but really soft and happy.
I started using this not too long ago for the first time, but already it has become one of my top 10 toners, and the spritz bottle makes application so easy and feels so refreshing and cool in these hotter days. After washing my face and wiping away any excess water gently with a facial tissue, I spritz this all over my face and décolleté, and with clean hand tap the toner into my skin. This feels so good in the morning and really helps to keep my skin feeling fresh.
Essence – SK-II Facial Treatment Essence
Another SK-II product, I use this essence after my toner has settled in using a cotton pad and a few drops of this goes a long way. I use it across my t-zone and on the apples of my cheeks, and wipe any leftovers on my neckline. This really goes such a long way and keeps skin firm and soft, and for me helps out so much with dryness.
Eye Cream – Isoflavone Eye Cream
This is one of two Japanese drugstore products which I currently use in my routine. I’m not sure if they are available in the UK (I haven’t been able to find them yet) but its so great that I had to share it anyhow – if you go to Japan check it out! You can find them in any Japanese drugstore. This product contains isoflavone, a compound found in soy, and helps to promote a healthier look underneath the eyes. It is quite a rich cream, and because it comes out in a really thin ribbon, is really easy to apply to the small area under the eyes.
Moisturise – Curèl Intensive Moisture Cream
The second Japanese drugstore product is the moisturiser I use to seal everything in, and protect the skin before applying sun screen and make up. This formula is super rich, yet light and not greasy at all, which makes it an absolute essential for the summer. I tend to easily get dry skin, especially with all the sun screen, so this product is the perfect layer to seal in the moisture without any of the sticky-ness which might be associated with moisturiser.
Sun cream – La Roche-Posay Antihelios XL Gel Cream
My favorite product of all – sun cream! This is obviously an essential for the summer, and I use SPF50 everyday. You should be applying sun cream every single day regardless of the season or weather anyway, but especially in the summer its super important! This La Roche-Posay sun cream is perfect for the face – its non greasy, gel touch, water resistant, broad spectrum and provides photostable UVA and UVB protection. This is the perfect sun cream if you hate the oily/greasy feeling that sun creams can leave behind, and is also so good as a base for make-up. I usually use a primer on top of this, but it also works well without.
Thank you so so much for reading, and hope you found some of it useful!
Please let me know your skincare daily essentials and what you do in the summer to feel good 🙂
See you in the next one!
