Summer beauty haul

I don’t think I’ve bought anything in-store this summer, and wanted to share this quick before I have to add any more items onto my list!

Skincare

I’ve been going on and on and on about this product this summer but the La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL sun screen is essential for me all year round – especially during a heatwave! The non-greasy formula is perfect for every day wear under my make up and I am yet to find a product which beats this. I use SPF50, and the broad spectrum coverage provides both UVA and UVB protection.

Another replacement product I got is the Garnier Micellar Water, which I think must be my 10th or so bottle in around 3 years. This is my MUST HAVE item, and no matter how many cleansing gels or creams I try, I always come back to this simple but effective make-up remover.

I was on the hunt for a new moisturiser ever since all mine suddenly became empty, and decided to check out the Elizabeth Arden visible difference refining moisture cream complex. It has great reviews so I’m really looking forward to seeing the effects but so far I’m yet to test it out. Please let me know if you’ve tried it!

Make up

During the insanely hot heatwave this summer, I found myself going off foundation, and looking for lighter and airier formulas, and only really wanted a sheer to light coverage on most days. I had tried several BB creams, but thought I would try the tinted moisturiser from La Roche-Posay, the effaclar duo (+) which I got in the shade light.

Light coverage means there is an even bigger need for concealer, so I had to get the Yves Saint Laurent touche éclat, which I got the shade 1.5. This doubly acts as a highlighter, and I finish of my base with the trusty Rimmel stay matte pressed powder in transparent, which has always been one of my favourite drugstore setting powders.

For the eyes, I have been loving the Dior show iconic mascara and Clinique bottom lash mascara, both of which featured in my July Favourites (check it out if you haven’t already!) so I won’t go into it too much. These two products really help lift my lashes and my eyes look bigger, which is great for people who aren’t blessed in the lashes department (me!).

My latest lip colour I got is the Rouge Dior lipstick which I got in the shade 779 Illusion. I love this colour so much, but will probably wear it out more in the fall/winter!

I had to get a new BeautyBlender, which I try to replace every 2-3 months or so. This time I got a nude one, which is my first time. There isn’t anything different to the pink originals which I usually get, and I can’t do my foundation layer without the Beauty Blender! I also got a Real Techniques prep & prime set which was a bit of an impulse buy, but so far I am loving the sponge holder and the eye roller, which I use to apply eye cream during my skincare routine.

Nails

I usually am not one to paint my nails, but since the world cup (ages ago now!) I got really into it, and bought these colours from the local drugstore. I got two different brands – Rimmel and Collection, and have been trying them both out. The ones from Rimmel are the 60 seconds super shine, and I can honestly say that I love this nail polish so much, especially compared to some of the others that I have tried.

The colours I got from Rimmel are:

  • 203 Lose Your Lingerie
  • 310 Double Decker Red
  • 853 Pillow Talk
  • 873 Breakfast in Bed

and from Collection:

  • French White 1
  • 2 in 1 Top & Base Coat

The Rimmel ones dry much faster and the colour is bright and solid. I really like the brush on it as well, and makes it super easy to apply. In comparison, the Collection ones I found to be a pain, and they take ages to dry. Even the top coat which I used on top of both brands would ruin the colour underneath by not drying properly and remaining tacky for hours. I wouldn’t recommend these particular products from collection, but the 60 seconds super shine from Rimmel are cheap, quick and super fun!

Thank you so much for reading, and please share your recommendations or any products you’re trying out in the comments below 🙂 You can also find me on instagram and twitter, I’m always looking for new and inspirational people!

See you in the next one,

Rina
